bluepad — Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how the bluepad iOS and Apple Watch app (“bluepad”, “the app”, “we”, “us”) handles your information.
It is written to be short and accurate. bluepad is designed to keep your data on your device whenever possible; we collect as little as we can.
1. Who is responsible

2. Data we process
bluepad processes the following categories of data. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, all data is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to servers operated by us.
2.1 Health & fitness data (HealthKit)
- Heart rate, active energy, distance, and workout records related to your paddle sessions.
- This data is read from and written to Apple HealthKit on your device.
- bluepad does not transmit your Health data to our servers or to any third party. It stays in HealthKit and follows the privacy settings you control in the Apple Health app.
2.2 Location data
- GPS coordinates recorded during a paddle session, used to compute distance and to display your route.
- Location data is stored locally as part of the session record.
- bluepad does not transmit your location to our servers or to any third party.
2.3 Weather data
- bluepad uses Apple’s WeatherKit to display weather and water-related forecasts at your current location.
- WeatherKit calls are made by Apple on your behalf. Apple’s privacy policy applies to those calls: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/.
- bluepad does not store the queries or share them with third parties.
2.4 Purchase data (StoreKit)
- The one-time “Unlock” in-app purchase is processed by Apple via StoreKit.
- bluepad receives only a boolean flag indicating whether the purchase has been completed. We do not see your Apple ID, payment method, or any personal information related to the transaction.
- Refunds and purchase history are handled by Apple at https://reportaproblem.apple.com.
2.5 Trial information
- The date you first launched the app is stored locally in the iOS Keychain to compute the remaining duration of the free trial.
- This date is not transmitted to us.
2.6 iCloud synchronization
- If you are signed in to iCloud and have iCloud Drive enabled, bluepad synchronizes your sessions and preferences between your devices via Apple’s CloudKit in a private container associated with your Apple ID.
- This data is stored in your personal iCloud account. We do not have access to it.
2.7 What we do NOT collect
- No analytics frameworks (no Firebase, no Mixpanel, no Amplitude, etc.).
- No third-party crash reporting (no Sentry, no Crashlytics, etc.).
- No advertising SDKs and no ad identifiers.
- No user accounts on our infrastructure; bluepad has no server-side accounts.
- No marketing emails (we do not have your email).
3. Why we process the data
- Health & fitness data: to record your paddle sessions and display metrics inside the app and on the Apple Watch.
- Location data: to track your route during a session.
- Weather data: to inform you of paddle-friendly conditions.
- Purchase data: to unlock the paid features after a one-time purchase.
- Trial information: to track the remaining duration of the free trial.
We process this data on the legal basis of providing the service you explicitly requested by installing and using the app (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b) — performance of a contract).
4. Where the data goes
- HealthKit, Keychain, CloudKit, WeatherKit: services provided by Apple on your device or in your personal iCloud account. Apple’s privacy policy applies to those services.
- StoreKit: the in-app purchase flow is operated by Apple.
bluepad does not transmit data to any third party, and does not operate any server that stores your personal data.
5. Retention
- Data stored on your device (sessions, preferences, trial date) is retained until you delete the app or clear the data inside the app.
- Data stored in your iCloud account follows your iCloud retention rules and can be removed by deleting the bluepad data from Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Storage.
6. Sharing with third parties
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties.
bluepad has no advertising partners and no analytics partners.
7. Your rights
If you reside in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, or California, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you;
- Rectify inaccurate personal data;
- Erase your personal data;
- Restrict or object to certain processing;
- Data portability for data you have provided;
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (for example, in France: the CNIL — https://www.cnil.fr).
Because bluepad stores your data on your device or in your personal iCloud account, you can exercise most of these rights yourself by deleting data in the app, in Apple Health, in iCloud, or by uninstalling the app.

8. Children
bluepad is intended for users aged 17 or older, in line with the recommended age rating on the App Store. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security
Data stored on your device is protected by iOS / watchOS sandboxing and by the device passcode / biometric protections you have configured. Data stored in iCloud is protected by Apple’s standard iCloud security.
We do not operate any server that stores your personal data, so there is no remote storage to compromise on our side.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the latest revision. Material changes will be announced through an in-app notice or via the app’s release notes.
